About Lainie
My name is Lainie. This is my blog. It used to be very different from what it is now, and was in fact down for several months in early 2008. I am in the process of rebuilding it, however.
For awhile it was primarily dedicated to the missional/emergent movements within the Christian church. Some very ugly personal circumstances required me to take it down for awhile, and now that I am “back”, I am finding myself in a very different position theologically and personally from when I started the blog. I have strong ties to both the Emergent/Missional Christian communities as well as to the Western Esoteric/Neo-Pagan communities, and I do strive to serve both these communities the best I can.
As for my biographical details: I am 40 years old, live in Evanston (just north of Chicago), and am a bivocational minister. I love to read, travel, and take a great deal of pleasure in writing, drinking tea and wine, eating good cheese, exercise, and being an armchair detective (i.e. I like true crime stuff). I am a cranky feminist.
Way too much formal education: I have a bachelors degree in Philosophy from Illinois State University (minor in Women’s Studies), a Master of Divinity degree and a Master of Theological Studies degree from Garrett Evanglical Theological Seminary, plus a Master of Library and Information Science degree from Dominican University.
This blog is now primarily a blog for sharing personal information, opinions on current events, as well as reflections on theology, personal growth, and anything else I see fit to share. Which is seldom these days. I can more often be found at LainieSips.com, where I blog about tea.
