Found a great article on cnn.com entitled Is your kid really gifted? Probably not.
Paula Spencer quietly explains in this piece why so many people have a need for their children to be “gifted”, even going so far as to “make” them gifted via “edutainment”, “academically oriented preschools”, and hyperprograming. Not only is there no evidence that any of this will make a kid into a genius, it is expensive and stress inducing to boot.
I find it telling, though, that people need an article on CNN.com to tell them that it is okay not to be remarkable.
